I Guess We’re Done

There have been several moments in my life when I wasn’t sure how things were going to work out. As a business owner, people often assume you always have a plan. The truth is, there have been many times when I stared at the numbers, looked at the bills, looked at payroll, looked at the bank account, and genuinely didn’t know if we would make it.

One particular season stands out.

The pressure was heavy. We had responsibilities, employees depending on us, and plenty of sacrifice and hard work to account for. I prayed and prayed, and each month felt thinner and thinner. Have you ever had one of those moments?

A prayer that comes from a place of desperation. The kind where you’re not trying to impress God with fancy words because you’re too exhausted to pretend. Those were my prayers. I went to my business one night and called a prayer warrior to pray with me. We prayed over our business and everything with it.

The NEXT DAY something happened. Out of nowhere, a check arrived. Yes, you heard that right. It wasn’t something I had planned for. It wasn’t even from that year.

It was money owed back to me from 4 years earlier!!

The amount wasn’t random. The timing wasn’t random. And the peace that came with it wasn’t random either. I got the check in the mail 2 days before rent and bills were due, I couldn’t believe it. I looked around as I opened the letter wondering if anyone else could possibly believe this story, like I wanted to run around and tell everyone but I didn’t think they would understand because the story goes back to a lot of turbulence, but also a lot of faith.

I know where I was spiritually, emotionally, and financially when it arrived. I’ve learned something about God’s provision, sometimes He provides before we ask. Sometimes He provides after a long season of waiting. And sometimes He waits until the exact moment in His timing. Teaching us steadfast faith and surrender.

He’s never late, His timing is always perfect. Because He’s teaching us that He is enough. God saw me. God knew. God provided, again and again. And He is still doing the same thing today.

If you’re in a season where the numbers don’t make sense, the answers haven’t come, and you’re wondering how you’ll make it through, I want to encourage you to keep praying. Keep believing. Trust God.

The same God who provided for me has not changed. He still sees. He still knows. He is still faithful. All the time.
