The Prayer I Didn’t Tell Anyone About
A few weeks ago, I finished a 3 day fast. Like many of my prayers, this wasn’t something I shared publicly. It was between me and God. There was something specific in my heart that I wanted help with. I needed protection and clarity, so I fasted and prayed.
At the end of my fast, I thanked God for his provision, His Grace and abundant love. I jotted a request down in my journal, and I asked God to send me one of His people to speak to me because I needed to hear from Him.
2 Days passed.
Then something happened that I still struggle to explain, because it was incredibly beautiful. A woman who was visiting from out of town approached me. She didn’t know my prayer. She didn’t know my situation. She didn’t know what I had been asking God.
But she looked at me and asked if she could give me what's on her heart that God sees within me. I said Yes!
As she spoke, tears immediately filled my eyes. Not because she was telling me something new. Because she was confirming something God heard me. The details were too personal. The timing was too perfect. The message was too specific.
At that moment, I felt what many believers have felt before but struggled to describe. The only possible explanation is the Holy Spirit. I immediately felt so incredibly loved, He heard me!!! He is so good. What a good God we have.
Sometimes God speaks through Scripture. And many times through my dreams, and several times through His people. God heard my prayer before anyone else even knew I had prayed it.
We often wait for directions or confirmation. Sometimes I know I wait for God to physically speak to me, a loud voice or a big magical moment. But all the magical moments are in the everyday walk with God because He reminds us over and over how good He is.
Maybe you’re waiting for God to speak to you too. Keep listening. Keep praying.
And don’t underestimate what God can do through the people He places in your path. You never know when a simple conversation may become an answer to prayer.
